For managers

This course aims to equip managers with the skills and knowledge necessary to utilise and oversee the implementation of a mobile application tailored to Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) and Business-to-Consumer (B2C) business models. It emphasises the strategic importance of location-based services as a key component of the innovative solutions enabled by this technology.

More information

The course consists of four lectures of varying durations. At the end of each lecture, participants will complete quizzes to reinforce their learning and help consolidate the learning course objectives. The achievement of the course’s learning outcomes will be assessed through a written examination and the evaluation of the practical exercises completed during the course.

  1. Significance of Location Data in Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) Models – 30 min
  2. Supply Chain, Distribution, and Geolocation – 60 min
  3. Risk and Regulations – 60 min
  4. Group Exercise – 180 min

The course duration is 5.3 hours.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the principles of Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) models and the role of location data interoperability, including its impact on business and decision-making processes.
  • Analyse D2C supply chains, distribution networks, and geolocation-related opportunities and challenges for innovative services.
  • Evaluate compliance with relevant EU regulations and standards governing D2C models and practice.

PowerPoint presentations, video recordings, quizzes, and materials for the final group exercise.

Participants must have completed the “Introduction to Data Interoperability” course for managers, which provides a foundational understanding of data interoperability concepts and principles.

For technicians

The course for technicians aims to equip with the skills and knowledge necessary for the use and development of a mobile application tailored to Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) or Business-to-Consumer (B2C) services. It focuses on the essential role of location-based services as a critical component of the innovative solutions offered by this technology, which is crucial for developing and delivering such services within SMEs.

More information

The course consists of three lectures of varying durations. At the end of each lecture, participants will complete quizzes to reinforce their learning and help consolidate the Learning Objectives associated with that lecture. Upon completing the course, a practical exercise with the tutor is planned. The achievement of the course’s learning outcomes will be assessed through a project work and a written examination, ensuring that participants have successfully transferred the necessary skills for technicians.

  1. Introduction to Data Interoperability for Direct 2 Consumer (D2C) Services (30 min.)
  2. Supply Chain, Distribution and Geolocation (90 min.)
  3. Group Exercise (290 min.)

The course duration is around 7 hours.

  • Understand the principles of Direct 2 Consumer Services and Role of Location Data Interoperability.
  • Use location data and interoperability tools to integrate data from diverse sources to harmonise data in case with location data.
  • Demonstrate the use of data interoperability for real-world scenarios of D2C cases such as Mobile Food Marketplace (LOKeT) (using Google Map API and own schema in MySQL for data products) to implement scenario of technical solutions for data harmonisation in practical tutorial.

PowerPoint presentations, technical examples and demonstrations, video recordings, and materials from use cases for the final exercise.

Participants must have completed the “Introduction to Data Interoperability” course for technicians, which provides a foundational understanding of data interoperability concepts and principles on a horizontal level.
